Illustrator is a program where you can design sketches by using text or other objects using the tool bar. You can also use images from the web or that you designed as another file. Then, you can transfer the sketches you make on Illustrator to machines to make your product with a flash drive to bring your sketch to life.
Keychain
Here is the final product of what the keychain looks like on the Illustrator program. Steps: Use ellipse tool to make an oval for the keychain shape. Paste the image you want for your keychain design and convert to a vector image by using the "image trace." Change the line size to 0.0001 pixels.
When heading down to the laser printer, first I had to measure the thickness of the plastic sheet that the keychain was going to be cut out of so I could enter that into the computer program so the printer would know how deep the laser needed to cut. Make sure it was measuring in inches and to press the zero button before you begin measuring.

Vinyl names
This is the vinyl machine and material; we used purple.
First on Illustrator, you will need to make sure your name fits the dimensions of your notebook, so we measured the notebook to be a little over 6 inches, so that's the size my name will be on inventor. I typed my name and picked out a font I liked, then I right clicked on my name and selected "create outlines." To save vinyl we made sure to stack our names close together as shown.
After we printed our names out, we cut them out and peeled away the outside so I was just left with the letters. I then made sure the inside of the letters were not still in, and I didn't have a problem with that so I moved onto the next step which is to move the vinyl onto the transfer tape. I used the white tool and applied pressure to make sure the letters stuck to my notebook and slowly peeled away the transfer tape leaving just the vinyl letters on my notebook.
I did not get a picture while doing my name, so here is an example of a classmate's. This is an image of the vinyl name stuck to the transfer tape and the white tool used to scrape and apply pressure to make it stick in one piece. I used the white tool and applied pressure to make sure the letters stuck to my notebook and slowly peeled away the transfer tape leaving just the vinyl letters on my notebook.
